The degree of Master of Science (M.S.) in Electrical Engineering comprises an appropriate academic core and a cohesive set of advanced courses, culminating in a thesis, or comprehensive examination.
Degree Specializations, An MS in EE will lead to a specialization in one of the following:
Energy Systems
The Energy Systems Area focuses on various aspects of the generation, storage, transmission, and distribution of electric power. The program integrates energy systems research with research in energy control, efficiency improvement, demand side management, power quality and economics, renewable resources and integration, and smart grid communications. Power and energy are an increasingly important issue in society and thus, an important and evolving area in electrical engineering.
Solid State Electronics: Faculty in the Solid-State Electronics area undertake research into cutting-edge electronic devices and circuits, with broad application to state-of-the-art technologies. These include high-performance, high-speed, computer and communication networks, "smart" medical devices and alternative energy sources.
Optics & Photonics: Research in Optics and Photonics relies on a synergy of fundamental physics, materials science, numerical modeling, and device applications. Research in this area has diverse applications, such as ultra-high resolution imaging, photovoltaic, sensing, quantum cryptography and secure communications.
Signals, Communications & Networking: We carry out research on fundamental aspects of signal acquisition, data representation, transmission, and processing, single and multi-user wireless point-to-point and networked communications.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Applicants must have a bachelor's degree (or higher) or the equivalent from an accredited/government recognized college or university. Most such degrees will be four or more years in length; UB recognizes some three-year degrees, but not all; A B-grade (GPA of 3.0) or higher from your bachelor's degree (or equivalent) courses. Grade point averages from non-U.S. universities will be evaluated by UB's Office of International Admissions. English Language Requirements: The minimum score of TOEFL IBT is 79, the minimum score TOEFL PBT is 550, the minimum score of IELTS is 6.5, the minimum score of PTE is 55, the minimum score of Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) 185, the minimum score of Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 185.
