From improving the air we breathe and the water we drink, to understanding and preventing disease, to evaluating current health programs and policies and promoting new ones—there is no shortage of complex public health challenges in today’s ever-changing world.
Career Opportunities
Our Master of Public Health (MPH) program prepares you to address public health issues with a comprehensive understanding of knowledge and skills needed to create real change.
You will be prepared to work in a variety of fields including:
- Local, state, national or international health agencies
- Health care delivery systems such as hospitals and provider networks
- Health maintenance and managed care organizations
- Pharmaceutical and other medical companies
- Private industry
- Nonprofit organizations
- Public health advocacy and other community-based organizations
- Private research and consulting firms
- Academia
Complete between 44 and 49 credits. Up to 9 credits may be transferred from previous coursework and up to 6 credits may be waived. A minimum of 43 credits must be completed, regardless of waivers or substitutions.
Students can complete the MPH in four semesters full-time, or up to eight semesters part-time.
Individualized MPH
Study foundations of public health by obtaining a broad overview of theories and principles that advance population health.
Can't find an MPH concentration to meet your needs? Consider an Individualized MPH. You'll receive the same foundational public health education as other concentrations, while tailoring your program to meet your unique interests through coursework and hands-on practice activities.
Career Opportunities
As a practitioner with training in core public health principles, you will be involved with advocacy, planning, programming, implementation or evaluation for disease prevention and health promotion of populations.
You will be prepared to work in a wide range of settings, including:
- Local, state, national or international public health agencies

為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Applicants must have a bachelor's degree (or higher) or the equivalent from an accredited/government recognized college or university. Most such degrees will be four or more years in length; UB recognizes some three-year degrees, but not all; A B-grade (GPA of 3.0) or higher from your bachelor's degree (or equivalent) courses. Grade point averages from non-U.S. universities will be evaluated by UB's Office of International Admissions. English Language Requirements: The minimum score of TOEFL IBT is 79, the minimum score TOEFL PBT is 550, the minimum score of IELTS is 6.5, the minimum score of PTE is 55, the minimum score of Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) 185, the minimum score of Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 185.
