The program is designed to equip students with theoretical and analytical skills needed to critically analyze social media users, platforms and infrastructures using a wide-range of methods and frameworks ranging from software studies to affect theory and studies focusing on big data, algorithms and protocols. The program responds to the transformation of culture stemming from the growth of social media platforms and practices, and the concurrent growing need for critical analysis and reflection on these topics. We welcome scholars who want to move from the purely discursive to other forms of media making as research and creative inquiry.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Applicants must have a bachelor's degree (or higher) or the equivalent from an accredited/government recognized college or university. Most such degrees will be four or more years in length; UB recognizes some three-year degrees, but not all; A B-grade (GPA of 3.0) or higher from your bachelor's degree (or equivalent) courses. Grade point averages from non-U.S. universities will be evaluated by UB's Office of International Admissions. English Language Requirements: The minimum score of TOEFL IBT is 79, the minimum score TOEFL PBT is 550, the minimum score of IELTS is 6.5, the minimum score of PTE is 55, the minimum score of Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) 185, the minimum score of Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 185.
