Advance your training in statistical theory, methods and applications. You can pursue your specific areas of interest with your selection of elective courses and with a thesis option versus the master’s project requirement.
Research Opportunities
You will have numerous opportunities to work closely with faculty members on methodological, theoretical and applied research projects. You will also work with departments and schools throughout the university, as well as our community partners, including Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) and the Gynecological Oncology Group.
Career Opportunities
- As a graduate, you will be prepared for pursuing a PhD degree or for direct entry into the workplace in a variety of positions, including as:
- A collaborative researcher at health research institutes, government agencies, international non-governmental organizations, pharmaceutical or health care companies
- A consultant with contract research organizations or consulting firms
Our graduates are currently employed at Georgetown University Medical Center, University of Pittsburgh, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Bay state Medical Center, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and BlueCross BlueShield among others.

Most such degrees will be four or more years in length; UB recognizes some three-year degrees, but not all; A B-grade (GPA of 3.0) or higher from your bachelor's degree (or equivalent) courses. Grade point averages from non-U.S. universities will be evaluated by UB's Office of International Admissions. English Language Requirements: The minimum score of TOEFL IBT is 79, the minimum score TOEFL PBT is 550, the minimum score of IELTS is 6.5, the minimum score of PTE is 55, the minimum score of Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) 185, the minimum score of Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 185.
