The Department of Anthropology offers a broad range of graduate studies in the subfields of archaeology, cultural anthropology, medical anthropology and physical anthropology designed to provide students with the critical skills necessary for successful professional careers as anthropologists. Subfield concentrations can be combined or complemented with work in other disciplines. From the first year, students combine required course offerings with research and coursework tailored to their needs and interests. Our facilities provide extensive laboratory, office, classroom, and museum space in support of the graduate program.
The MA degree program includes 30 credit hours of Anthropology coursework, completion of first-year student requirements and a master’s project paper.
A minimum 24 credit hours must be taken in residence at the University at Buffalo. Graduate students must abide by the rules as they existed in the year of their admission. Since the rules are subject to change, students may want to check the Graduate Student Handbooks of earlier years.

為來自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Applicants must have a bachelor's degree (or higher) or the equivalent from an accredited/government recognized college or university. Most such degrees will be four or more years in length; UB recognizes some three-year degrees, but not all; A B-grade (GPA of 3.0) or higher from your bachelor's degree (or equivalent) courses. Grade point averages from non-U.S. universities will be evaluated by UB's Office of International Admissions. English Language Requirements: The minimum score of TOEFL IBT is 79, the minimum score TOEFL PBT is 550, the minimum score of IELTS is 6.5, the minimum score of PTE is 55, the minimum score of Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) 185, the minimum score of Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 185.
