The teacher education program offers a curricular option that leads to an Ed.M. degree from the University at Buffalo and a recommendation for initial and/or professional teacher certificates in ESOL. Teacher certification in ESOL allows one to teach in public, PreK-12 schools in New York State; plus, other states, as well as schools in other countries, often hire program completers from the University at Buffalo. Therefore, this degree and the associated certification are marketable throughout New York State, nationally, and internationally.

The features of our program include:
- research and evaluation projects, including field experiences and projects in collaboration with local schools' bilingual and second language programs
- study of English language learners and bilingual education students
- study of foundation of bilingual, dual and second language education
- study of bilingualism and first and second language acquisition
- study of developmental readers, second language reading processes, and reading instruction at elementary grades; second language literacy; adolescent literacy practice; language, literacy and culture; children's and young adult literature; and classroom reading and second language assessment

為來自中國的學生設計 Applicants must have a bachelor's degree (or higher) or the equivalent from an accredited/government recognized college or university. Most such degrees will be four or more years in length; UB recognizes some three-year degrees, but not all; A B-grade (GPA of 3.0) or higher from your bachelor's degree (or equivalent) courses. Grade point averages from non-U.S. universities will be evaluated by UB's Office of International Admissions. English Language Requirements: The minimum score of TOEFL IBT is 79, the minimum score TOEFL PBT is 550, the minimum score of IELTS is 6.5, the minimum score of PTE is 55, the minimum score of Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) 185, the minimum score of Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 185.
