The History Department offers courses that explore what happened and why through many perspectives, whether political, economic, cultural or intellectual, religious or social, and analyze historians' debates. Understanding the historical developments of the legal system, how and why it exists, provides an advantage to students interested in studying law.
The Accelerated BA to Law JD Program is a unique opportunity for undergraduate history students to accelerate their course of study by completing their Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor in just six years of full-time study, saving students a full year of time and tuition.
Why study History BA at UB?
Students in History courses explore what happened and why through many perspectives, whether political, economic, cultural or intellectual, religious or social, and analyze historians' debates. Sources studied and interpreted by students include, but are not limited to, published or unpublished written texts, film and other visual material, and oral testimony. The recent explosion of digitized materials has made a vast array of evidence available to undergraduates in their study of change over time in human society.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of all requirements, the student will have knowledge to:
- Develop historical information: events; people; range of social, political, economic, cultural, intellectual, environmental factors; change over time
- Explain the particularities and influence of the past
- Interpret complexity and compare regions and time periods
- Assess and challenge historical narratives and viewpoints
- Display disciplined, sophisticated use of information
- Hone critical thinking and reading
- Develop research skills: posing questions, obtaining evidence, identifying gaps in record
- Construct historical arguments: make an argument, support interpretation
- Cultivate oral communication: present research findings clearly, analyze primary and secondary sources in discussion

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Admission to UB’s freshman class is selective and is based in part on the quality of your secondary school academic record and the number of spaces available in the class. You should feel confident applying to UB if you have an above-average academic record and have taken challenging courses in high school to help prepare you to be successful at university. UB uses a 4.0 grading scale and we expect students applying here to have the equivalent of a 3.0 on that scale. That is the same as a grade of B or 83 on a 100-point scale. English Language Scores: The minimum score of TOEFL IBT is 70, the minimum score TOEFL PBT is 523, the minimum score of IELTS is 6.0, the minimum score of PTE is 50, CAEL 70, CanTEST 4.5, Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) score 185; Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) score 185, IB Higher Level English a Literature 4, IB Higher Level English a Language and Literature 4.
