Why study Dance BA at UB?
The UB Dance Program is a nurturing and challenging artistic community where Versatility Matters. The program values education fueled by stimulating professional performing and teaching experiences. The BA dance degree includes a depth and breadth of curriculum with equal emphasis on ballet, modern, jazz and tap. The department does not offer a minor in dance. Various options in preparing for professional dance careers are available. Coursework includes performance, choreography, pedagogy, somatic practices, movement analysis, history, criticism and research.
Learning Outcomes
Students will demonstrate: in studio classes and performances technical proficiency and performance ability in diverse/broad range of movement disciplines and styles. Students will be able to do the following:
Diversified Technique Methodologies
- Demonstrate & instruct technical skills, rhythmic acuity moving musically & dynamically
- Incorporate instructional strategies to develop cognitive complexity in insightful use of dance vocabulary
- Demonstrate & develop instructional strategies for teaching the concepts of placement, elevation, control & style
- Demonstrate & develop instructional strategies for teaching the concepts of coordination, use of weight, directional focus
- Demonstrate & develop instructional strategies for teaching an understanding of musical accompaniment
- Demonstrate & develop instructional strategies for teaching the theories of diversified techniques 18 Dance Technique courses, from lower to upper levels that include: Ballet (6 levels), Modern (6 levels), Jazz (6 levels}. Students choose to take one of the above discipline through the 6th level and the remaining up to level 2, In addition students complete two levels of Tap

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計 Admission to UB’s freshman class is selective and is based in part on the quality of your secondary school academic record and the number of spaces available in the class. You should feel confident applying to UB if you have an above-average academic record and have taken challenging courses in high school to help prepare you to be successful at university. UB uses a 4.0 grading scale and we expect students applying here to have the equivalent of a 3.0 on that scale. That is the same as a grade of B or 83 on a 100-point scale. English Language Scores: The minimum score of TOEFL IBT is 70, the minimum score TOEFL PBT is 523, the minimum score of IELTS is 6.0, the minimum score of PTE is 50, CAEL 70, CanTEST 4.5, Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) score 185; Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) score 185, IB Higher Level English a Literature 4, IB Higher Level English a Language and Literature 4.
