BSHS in Biomedical Informatics
Use data science to facilitate and lead innovation in health care with the George Washington University's (GW) online Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences (BSHS) in Biomedical Informatics. In this two year Bachelor's degree completion program, you'll build on your existing education and gain comprehensive analytical skills that support clinical decision-making, research, and patient engagement. When you graduate with your BSHS in biomedical informatics, you'll be able to:
- Apply data science principles to improve health care delivery
- Demonstrate programming, data analysis, and data manipulation skills
- Integrate and synthesize data to inform ethical, evidence-based and patient-centered care
- Design solutions for biomedical information problems through the application of computational and systems thinking, information science and technology
Who Is the Ideal Student for This Program?
You don't need prior health care or information systems experience to excel in this two-year completer program. To succeed, you should be self-motivated, comfortable with self-directed study and passionate about changing the health care system. Previous computer science or programming coursework is recommended but not required.

To meet the English Language Proficiency requirements for admission, GW applicants should earn: A minimum score of 90 on the TOEFL; or A minimum score of 6.5 on the IELTS; or A minimum score of 61 on the PTE Academic, A minimum score of 115 on the Duolingo English Test.
