Key information
Build essential skills in magazine journalism by learning to produce online and print publications. Our Magazine Journalism MA also requires you to take up to seven weeks of relevant work experience, giving valuable practical experience and potentially the first step of a career.
Benefits of this course
We aim to give you a versatile mix of skills. This covers everything from writing short news stories, long form investigative features and arts and culture reviews to producing profile pieces, podcasts and editing pictures and video. You also gain confidence in designing and subbing print and online pages.
You will learn to write, design and produce our showcase magazine XCity and its website .
Our strong entrepreneurial angle enables you to learn how to create and launch new media products and engage audiences.

You can select to apply for one of the available exit points for this course.
Master of Arts (MA)
Who is this course for?
If you have a good degree and a passion for first class magazine journalism, you will be well suited to our programme.
You will have excellent general knowledge and a real enthusiasm for journalism across print and digital platforms.
This is an intensive course so you need to be prepared to work hard – but it’s great fun!
Elements of the programme are accredited by the Professional Publishers’ Association (Magazine Journalism) and the Broadcast Journalism Training Council (Broadcast Journalism and Television Journalism).
