Our MA Philosophy offers you postgraduate teaching in central aspects of Western philosophy in the broadly analytic tradition. The curriculum is research-led, with specialist modules taught by leading figures in their fields, and with a consistent focus on the fostering of intellectual curiosity and the development of independent thinking. This uniquely flexible programme allows you to follow your own philosophical interests and provides a sound platform for those wishing to proceed to more advanced research work in philosophy.
The MA Philosophy is open to those with a first degree in philosophy wishing to progress to more advanced levels of study and also to those without undergraduate training in philosophy. If you did not study philosophy as an undergraduate, you take a special route through the programme.
CAREERS AND EMPLOYABILITY
Graduates go in to careers in management, politics, recruitment and journalism. Possible professions include further/higher education lecturer, secondary school teacher, or Civil Service fast streamer. This degree can also be useful in becoming a local government officer, marketing executive, or recruitment consultant.

為來自中國的學生設計 Students will requires a UK undergraduate degree with a 2:2 classification, they will typically need to have one of the following: a Bachelor's degree (Xueshi) from a 211, 985 or top national university with an overall average grade of 70%; a Bachelor's degree from a national university with an overall average grade of 75%; a Bachelor's degree from a high-ranking private university with an overall average grade of 75%; a Master's degree with an overall average grade of 60%. To study a Master's degree that requires a UK undergraduate degree with a 2:1 classification, they will typically need to have one of the following: a Bachelor's degree (Xueshi) from a 211, 985 or top national university with an overall average grade of 75%; a Bachelor's degree from a national university with an overall average grade of 80%; a Bachelor's degree from a high-ranking private university with an overall average grade of 80%; a Master's degree with an overall average grade of 70%. If they do not meet these criteria, they can apply for Birkbeck’s International Foundation Programme, which acts as a bridge between undergraduate and postgraduate study, preparing students to study a Master’s degree in the UK. There are progression pathways onto various courses at Birkbeck.
