How can scholars keep pace with the rapidly changing field of digital media, design and culture? Is it possible to learn academic research skills, approaches and methods that facilitate the understanding of both current forms of digital culture and the anticipation of future developments in digital media? The MA Digital Media Culture at Birkbeck introduces you to the key intellectual debates, discussions and texts shaping the field of digital culture and media theory.
This course provides you with the conceptual framework required to analyse and comprehend the digital environments of today and tomorrow. It is one of the only MA degrees in the UK to combine academic rigour and scholarly consideration with the opportunity for hands-on training in digital media design and management. The philosophy of the programme is that critical thinking about digital culture is enhanced by direct exposure to digital media software, technologies and design practices.
MA Digital Media Culture graduates will be well positioned to pursue further academic study at PhD level, or work within digital media and design industries.
CAREERS AND EMPLOYABILITY
Graduates can pursue a career in web development, multimedia programming, design, project management, education and training. Possible professions include web developer, project manager, or digital designer. This degree is also useful in becoming a multimedia specialist, teacher, or market researcher.

為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Students will requires a UK undergraduate degree with a 2:2 classification, they will typically need to have one of the following: a Bachelor's degree (Xueshi) from a 211, 985 or top national university with an overall average grade of 70%; a Bachelor's degree from a national university with an overall average grade of 75%; a Bachelor's degree from a high-ranking private university with an overall average grade of 75%; a Master's degree with an overall average grade of 60%. To study a Master's degree that requires a UK undergraduate degree with a 2:1 classification, they will typically need to have one of the following: a Bachelor's degree (Xueshi) from a 211, 985 or top national university with an overall average grade of 75%; a Bachelor's degree from a national university with an overall average grade of 80%; a Bachelor's degree from a high-ranking private university with an overall average grade of 80%; a Master's degree with an overall average grade of 70%. If they do not meet these criteria, they can apply for Birkbeck’s International Foundation Programme, which acts as a bridge between undergraduate and postgraduate study, preparing students to study a Master’s degree in the UK. There are progression pathways onto various courses at Birkbeck.
