Our signature dual degree program combines rigorous scientific training with one of the nation’s best masters programs in policy and management for a powerful and flexible combination of skills—positioning you at the crucial intersection of science, policy, and society.
The MPA-MSES dual degree program
This unique, 60-credit-hour program allows you to earn a Master of Public Affairs (MPA) and a Master of Science in Environmental Science (MSES) in an average of two and a half years.
Our MPA program is ranked first in the nation, and our environmental policy program is also the nation's highest-ranked program at any institution, public or private. You can earn both in less time than it would take you to complete these degrees independently.
As an MPA-MSES dual-degree student, you’ll complete a 60-credit hour curriculum that includes the following components: core courses and competencies; tool skills; an experiential requirement; and a capstone project. These components are supplemented by an array of concentration options across both the MPA and MSES degree programs.
Choose among our 12 MPA, four MSES, and four unique MPA-MSES dual-degree concentrations to turn your interests into an area of expertise that is highly marketable—and uniquely your own. Our faculty advisors will work with you to develop your concentration's course of study or even help you tailor a one-of-a-kind, individualized course of study.
