Study for these two degrees can be combined for a total of 60 credit hours rather than the 75 credit hours required for the two degrees taken separately. Students take at least 36 graduate credit hours in arts administration, and at least 24 credit hours in folklore and ethnomusicology.
This one-of-a kind dual degree combines the business and management acumen of an Arts Administration degree with an understanding of folklore and the variety of music and diverse cultures that inform entertainment and the arts today. You’ll graduate uniquely prepared for a career as a festival or cultural events coordinator, as well as for the variety of opportunities available in arts administration, cultural policy making, academia, and more.
The MAAA-MAFE dual degree is offered in collaboration between SPEA and the College of Arts and Sciences. You’ll graduate with both a Master of Arts Administration and a Master of Arts in Folklore and Ethnomusicology, with a focus in either the College’s Folklore or Ethnomusicology track.
Complete two degrees in just five semesters with hands-on experience for professional success
The course requirements for the dual MAAA-MAFE can be completed in just five semesters. In addition, you’ll gain real-world skills through the MAAA’s experiential requirements. You can also elect to complete a thesis or project as a capstone to your degree program.
