專業(yè)概況
在這里學(xué)什么?
In an increasingly interconnected world, foreign language education is critically important. Americans can no longer expect that the English language will be enough to meet all their communications needs. Tomorrow's learners can expect to interact with people on every continent in their personal and professional lives. Students who are prepared to communicate with others in their native language will enjoy a huge competitive advantage over those who cannot.
As a world languages education major, you'll learn proven methodologies for teaching new languages to learners from kindergarten through grade 12. You’ll develop a deeper understanding of how people acquire and process language. And you'll understand the broader social, cultural, and geopolitical contexts of multilingualism.
Your course work will combine extensive foreign language study with a strong grounding in education theory, instructional methodologies, and professional development.
The program culminates in a semester-long student teaching experience where you’ll test your understanding in real-world situations and refine your strategies for instruction and assessment based on your experiences. You may take on additional field engagements as early as your second semester, depending upon your admissions status, through our early field experiences program.
You can also choose to get student teaching experience in other countries through the Overseas Project.
