專業(yè)概況
在這里學(xué)什么？ This exciting course develops connections between the critical study of English Literature and the creative practice of writing in a variety of forms. You will learn to approach texts as both a reader and a writer, discovering links and synergies between these different perspectives. Through critical knowledge and practical experience, you will learn how to write in several genres, including the novel, the short story, travel writing, writing for performance, writing for young adults, screenwriting and poetry. Literary study enables you to understand background and context as well as the new possibilities available to the contemporary writer. The final year dissertation offers the opportunity to specialize in an area of your choice.The Placement Year provides you with a fantastic opportunity to broaden your horizons and develop valuable skills and contacts through working in field relevant to your chosen degree subject. The Placement Year is taken between years 2 and 3 of your degree and students are away for the whole of the academic year. The minimum period in placement (at one or more locations) is seven calendar months; more usually you would spend 10-12 months with a placement provider. Placements can be UK-based or overseas and you will work with staff to plan and finalise the placement arrangements. You would normally start sometime in the period June to September of your second year and finish between June and September the following year. You will be supported throughout the placement period by a dedicated member of staff within your academic school.
