Our mission is to prepare master’s degree-seeking students for positions of instructional leadership in Mathematics Education as master teachers of mathematics in middle grades (6-9), high school (9-12) or post-secondary institutions such as community colleges. We offer both a Master of Education in STEM Education and a Master of Science in Mathematics Education. The Master of Education degree is a 30 credit hour program.
The Masters of Education program is completely online. It consists of four courses in Mathematics Education, one course in STEM Education, and five mathematical science courses.
Program Description
A strong emphasis on pedagogical content knowledge, disciplinary content knowledge and technological innovation in improving schooling is a defining characteristic of our master’s program. Through the master’s program, students will further develop their instructional expertise, extend their knowledge of learners, deepen their subject matter knowledge, use educational research methods and engage in professional leadership activities.
