The Economics Graduate Program at North Carolina State University combines the academic resources and research expertise of economics faculty in two colleges - the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Management - to provide our graduate students uniquely rich research and learning experiences that prepare them for leadership in today's dynamic, global marketplace.
Many of our master’s degree students choose to enter the job market after graduation. They typically are employed as consultants, analysts and researchers in private industry and government. Others choose to continue on to further graduate work, often in our own economics doctoral program or at other universities, most often studying economics or law.
Progress to the MR Degree
To earn the Master of Economics (MR) degree, students must take the required coursework and electives necessary to meet 30 completed credit hours. A thesis and comprehensive oral examination are not required for this degree. Students pursuing a MR degree may not pursue an officially designated minor or co-major.
