The Jenkins Master of Accounting (MAC) program provides exceptional education and real-world experience that equip students to take their careers to the next level.
Everyone needs accountants. This is why the profession is growing faster than the national average for all occupations. And NC State’s Jenkins MAC program is preparing graduates to be tomorrow’s leaders in this important and versatile field.
The program’s one-year curriculum is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of accounting and business practices, as well as a rigorous technical accounting education. Students can choose to complement these core courses with concentrations in Enterprise Risk Management, Information Technology or Tax Strategy.
The curriculum is focused on both preparing you for the CPA exam and developing real-world skills, and learning doesn’t stop in the classroom. MAC students can study abroad in Prague, lead financial literacy courses on campus or in the community, work with real companies in practicum exercises and take advantage of innovative learning opportunities.

Graduates of the MAC program are expected to understand and be able to apply the concepts, procedures, and regulations applicable to financial accounting, auditing, internal controls, cost accounting and tax. Graduates of the MAC program are expected to conduct research and apply the auditing, tax, and financial reporting standards to solve problems in accounting and business related areas of inquiry. Graduates of the MAC program are expected to understand, use, and manage the technological tools employed by accounting professionals. Graduates of the MAC program are expected to communicate effectively in accounting and business contexts. Graduates of the MAC program are expected to work effectively as a team member or team leader. Graduates of the MAC program are expected to apply critical analysis and thinking techniques to solve problems in accounting and business related areas of inquiry.
Objective: To have a nationally recognized MAC Program.
The MAC Program will preserve and enhance the number, quality, and diversity of students in the program each year The MAC Program will increase the internal and external support/ resources available to students The MAC Program will assist in placing at least 2/3 of MAC students into professional jobs by graduation The MAC Program will preserve and enhance the real world experience classroom activities available to students The MAC Program will preserve and enhance the study abroad experiences available to students in the program The MAC Program will preserve and enhance external rankings of the program The MAC Program will preserve and enhance student pass rates on the CPA Exam
