Microbiology is the study of bacteria, archaea, viruses, fungi and unicellular eukaryotes, and their interactions with humans, plants, animals, and the world around us. Courses in the major focus on the basic science of microbial life, human/animal interactions with microbial life (including both disease and symbiosis), and how microbes are (or could be) used for our benefit.

Courses include: General Microbiology, Microbial Diversity, Medical Microbiology, Metabolic Regulation, Senior Seminar in Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Microbial Biotechnology, Introduction to Molecular Virology
