You will have the opportunity to conduct independent research supported by a team of supervisors led by one of our internationally recognised academics. Our regional expertise and breadth of thematic interests enables us to offer supervision across a wide range of topics within the fields of socio-cultural, biological, medical and visual anthropology.
MSc by Research These courses are one-year full time or two-year part-time programmes. You research and write a thesis under the supervision of one or two academic staff. We have a vibrant research group whose interests stretch across the range of biological and evolutionary anthropology. We can provide extensive and modern data-analysis facilities as well as a newly refurbished research lab dedicated to biological and evolutionary anthropology. We are actively recruiting new research students, and if you have an idea or topic you want to pursue, then we will help you develop your project.
Examples of potential projects include:
- Human remains analysis
- Investigation of skeletal trauma (humans or other primate species)
- Human parental investment strategies
- Life-history trade-offs in humans
- Evolution of human sexual behaviour
- Primate foraging ecology
- Group dynamics in fission-fusion societies

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) For entry to a Kent postgraduate degree programme (Master’s), Chinese students typically need to have completed a Bachelor Degree (Xueshi) at a recognised institution. Exact requirements will depend on the postgraduate degree you are applying for and the undergraduate degree you have studied. For programmes that require a 2:1 we usually ask for a Bachelor degree (Xueshi) from a 211 university with a final grade of 70%. For Bachelor degrees from other recognised institutions you will need to achieve a final grade of 75%. For programmes that require a 2:2 we usually ask for a Bachelor degree (Xueshi) from a 211 university with a final grade of 65%. For Bachelor degrees from other recognised institutions you will need to achieve a final grade of 70%. Applicants with relevant work experience may be considered with lower grades. Some, but not all, postgraduate programmes require your undergraduate degree to have a related major. Some postgraduate programmes may require work experience in a relevant field or at a certain level. For MBA, Students who wish to apply for a higher degree should have a good honours degree from the UK (minimum 2:2) or equivalent internationally recognised qualification. Exceptions will be considered for senior managers with more than ten years’ managerial work experience. Students need to have an IELTS score of 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in R&W; 5.5 in S&L).
