This programme is offered by Department of Humanities and Creative Writing of Hong Kong Baptist University for holders of Associate Degree or Higher Diploma who wish to continue on to a Bachelor’s degree in liberal and cultural studies.
Programme Features
- A non-government-funded honours undergraduate programme.
- A full-time programme which is normally completed in two years.
- Enhances the cultural literacy and cross-cultural sensibilities of students.
- Develops and sharpens bilingual skills and sensitivities in the exploration of the cross-cultural heritage of Hong Kong.
- Provides a wide range of liberal and cultural studies courses ranging from art history, literature and philosophy to popular culture, cinema and film, and media studies.

Career Prospects
It is not a vocational programme. It does not provide special work training. Rather, with a strong interdisciplinary approach of studies, the Programme
- trains students’ creative, synthesizing, disciplined, respectful and ethical minds;
- develops and sharpens students’ bilingual skills and sensibilities;
- equips students with substantial cultural literacy, creative arts knowledge and transferable abilities such as writing and presentation skills, creative and critical thinking, and sensitivity to cultural diversity.
These abilities are essential for virtually many fields of students future career, especially for fields like journalism, print media, creative industries, art administration, electronic media, management, public relations and education.
Programme Structure
The four-year undergraduate programme requires students to complete a total of 128 units, including 66 units of Major Courses, 38 units of General Education Courses and 24 units of Free Elective Courses. Students with Associate Degree or Higher Diploma qualifications will normally be admitted directly into the third year of study to complete the programme in two years.
Specifically, students are required to complete 36 units of Major Required Courses and 30 units of Major Elective Courses.
