在這里學什么? **About This Course**One-quarter of the UK population will suffer from mental health problems at some point in their lives. Illnesses can come in many shapes and forms. It affects people of all ages and from all backgrounds. It is often complex and demanding - dealing with the human mind is not an exact science. Being able to offer specialist care and support in someone’s hour of need can be hugely rewarding. Becoming a specialist mental health nurse will give you the skills needed to make a real difference in many people’s lives.Study for your BSc Mental Health Nursing at UEA and you will benefit from service user contact from the very outset and a personal mentor to guide you throughout. We’re also ranked in the UK's top 15 for nursing (The Complete University Guide 2020).**Overview**As a student at UEA, you’ll study aspects of mental health nursing from core nursing skills right the way through to specialist areas such as working in forensic settings, with children, and with people who have dementia.To excel as a Mental Health Nurse you’ll need personality and strength of character. Your strong communication skills will be fundamental in helping people through mental health issues. You will also need to be able to empathise with others, show warmth and understanding.Split 50/50 between academic theory and hands-on practice, our three-year course will see you undertake a range of placements in care homes, the community, hospitals and specialist care units. You will study alongside other healthcare students, giving you a greater insight into the responsibilities and roles of other healthcare professions. So you’ll graduate fully-equipped with the skills and experience you’ll need for a career working with people with complex mental health problems.With the NHS Constitution at its core, our Mental Health Nursing degree provides rigorous training, fantastic placement opportunities and is fully approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).**Highlights of Mental Health Nursing at UEA**- A wide range of placements including community settings, care homes, hospitals and specialist care units- Regular group work with other healthcare students to help develop teamwork skills- Combine 50% theory with 50% practice, and link the two with enquiry-based learning- A highly supportive cultureCareer-wise, you could be based in a community setting, hospital or out patients department - there are also specialist units around the UK too.
