Overview
The European Master in Strategic Project Management, known as MSPME, is a unique double degree masters programme offered in partnership by Heriot-Watt University and the University of Umea.
MSPME takes an international perspective to the strong and growing demand for strategic thinkers who can deliver core business activities and realise competitive strategies through the implementation of strategic projects. Specifically, students on MSPME develop competencies to facilitate business transformation, continuous improvement, organisational change, value creation and strategy implementation.
Commencing at Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh, students will spend the first semester focused on Strategic Project Management and associated theories and concepts which support sustainabile delivery of positive outcomes.
In semester two, students will have the opportunity to either continue their studies in Edinburgh or transfer to either Heriot-Watt Dubai or Heriot-Watt Malaysia. Students will thereafter have the opportunity to undertake an industry project prior to completing their programme in Umea, Sweden, where they will study for a Masters in Business Administration.
Successful candidates will achieve an MSc in Strategic Project Management (European) from Heriot-Watt University as well as a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Umea. Heriot-Watt is delighted to be the lead partner institution for this unique programme.
Students will also achieve PGDip and PGCert awards in this course.

Science and Engineering (1st degree classification): 985 University (70%), 211 University (72%), Other Institutions(75%). Other than 1st- 985 University (65%), 211 University (68%), Other Institutions(70%). Business: 985 University (65%), 211 University (68%), Other Institutions(70%). Art and Design: 985 University (65%), 211 University (68%), Other Institutions(70%). Exceptions to the above: For Masters Programmes in Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics students are required to have 80% or above. For Masters Programmes in Brewing and Distilling students are required to have 80% or above. For Masters Programmes in Photonics, students are required to have 75% or above. Students require IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each element or an acceptable equivalent.
