專業(yè)概況
在這里學(xué)什么？ The programme is intended to provide a broad-based geographical education, focussing on physical geoscience, but with a complementary grounding in human geography concepts. The programme is built around core themes of: history of landscape and people; urban geography; the hydrosphere (rivers & oceans); the geosphere; the atmosphere; environmental hazards/risks and associated policy. These themes are developed over the 4 years of study, to give graduates skills useful in current, topical environmental sectors. In particular, graduates will gain insight into processes and change; human-physical interactions & systems framework approaches; significance of spatial and temporal relationships/diversity; mastery of quantitative geographical information; critical appraisal and reflection on data, approaches and design. + Year 1 provides introductory theory with a focus on subject relevance to real-world issues across the globe is designed to provide context in developing underpinning principles of reciprocal people-landscape interactions via knowledge of spatio-temporal process and change. + Year 2 retains the balance of human and physical geography subjects, introducing new laboratory and fieldwork skills in surveying and mapping whilst consolidating surveying and GIS expertise. + Year 3 permits more critical understanding of a range of the principles, principal theories, concepts and terminology in specific physical geography subjects, with emphasis on detailed process and routine technical skills training. + Year 4 focuses on detailed and applied geographical knowledge and skills training appropriate to topical subjects directly relevant to current environmental employment sectors. In each of these core subjects, graduates will leave with an integrated suite of knowledge and skills in physical process, quantitative analysis, computational software, policy and critical evaluation.
