The Spanish and Linguistics program combines Spanish language acquisition with linguistics, which is the theoretical investigation of how languages develop and signify meaning.
The Joint Major in Spanish and Linguistics is an interdisciplinary program requiring a minimum of 45 credit hours.
Learning Outcomes
Students graduating with a major in Spanish and linguistics will be able to:
Apply critical thinking skills to the study of linguistics and the Spanish language. Use spoken and written academic Spanish and English according to the standards of the field. Describe and apply ethically principles and methods of the discipline. Carry out and report on linguistic research related to the Spanish speaking world.
