Overview
Our Master of International Relations is designed for professionals seeking career advancement or specialist knowledge in various areas of international relations. When you graduate you'll be prepared for a career in international diplomacy, foreign policy, governance, industry affairs, and development - locally and internationally.
Throughout the course you'll explore key elements of international economics and trade, cultural diversity, political negotiation and security agendas in a time of rapid globalization.
You'll graduate with the skills to engage with current global issues, develop academic insights, and plan responses to real-world matters. You'll also develop high-level strategic negotiation skills to implement social change across different cultures and societies.
Career opportunities exist within local and international inter-governmental agencies and NGOs like Oxfam, Amnesty International and the Red Cross, as well as in government departments such as the Department of Defense, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. You may choose to move into roles in the corporate sector or with independent think tanks, academic institutions and the media.
You'll study for 2 years full-time or the part-time equivalent. You may be able to gain Advanced Standing (credit) for previous studies.
The qualification awarded on graduation is recognized in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9.

English Language Requirements: IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0; TOEFL Paper-based Test - Overall score of 575 with 5 or better in TWE (Test of Written English); TOEFL Internet based (iBT): Overall 79 with 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing, Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE): Overall score of 58 with no communicative skill score less than 50, Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 176 with no less than 169 in any component, Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): 176 with no less than 169 in any component.
