Overview
This program requires the submission of a thesis of not more than 50000 words. You can pursue research in macroeconomics, microeconomics, international economics, applied econometrics, economic policy, economic growth, monetary policy, economics of labour markets policy, globalization, economic development, financial economics, asset pricing and financial markets, or corporate finance and governance.
The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9.
Industry internships
We offer internships to Master by Research and PhD students in various disciplines.
Course intended learning outcomes
Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILOs) are brief statements defining what students are expected to demonstrate they know and can do by the end of a course.
- Competence in the design and conduct of a research project that incorporates methodological skills appropriate to the discipline and a body of knowledge that includes the understanding of recent developments in one or more disciplines.
- Ability to provide a critical appraisal of relevant literature and available research, to appreciate and understand the relationship of the investigations undertaken to the wider field of knowledge in which these investigations are located, and to draw out the contribution to knowledge made by these investigations.
- Knowledge and understanding of the methodological techniques used in the research and any shortcomings associated with these techniques
- A satisfactory level of literary presentation reflecting an ability to communicate in a clear, concise and authoritative manner appropriate to the field of research and to the scholarly community to which it is addressed.
CAREER OUTCOMES
This degree will open opportunities for you to pursue a career in economics research, industry, or government. It can also serve as a pathway into a PhD.
