Unlock the secrets of the past by studying the only discipline that looks at the human journey as a whole.
As a Bachelor of Archaeology student at La Trobe, you'll study humanity's past through material cultures and physical evidence. You'll learn through hands-on study that teaches you sought-after skills and their real-world applications. Gain the knowledge necessary for ethical heritage management, archaeological fieldwork and working with traditional owner groups, particularly Australia's First Peoples.
Advance your career through professional internships or placements with our range of industry and government partners. You'll also have the opportunity to complete internships, field schools, exchanges and study tours internationally. Previous students have travelled to locations like South Africa, Nepal, Sir Lanka, the United Kingdom, Ireland, China and Jordan.
The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 7.
We look forward to welcoming all of our students back onto our campuses once it is both safe and practical to do so, and in line with Government directions. We anticipate offering a mix of face-to-face and online teaching in Semester 1, 2021 across all of our campuses - detailed planning is underway based on the likely requirement for physical distancing.

English Language Requirements: IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.0 with no band less than 6.0; TOEFL Paper-based Test - Overall score of 550 with 5 or better in TWE (Test of Written English); TOEFL Internet based (iBT): Overall 64 with 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing, Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE): Overall score of 50 with no communicative skill score less than 50, Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 169 with no less than 169 in any component, Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): 169 with no less than 169 in any component.
