The demand for accredited exercise physiologists in a variety of health environments is rapidly expanding. The Master of Exercise Physiology at the University of Newcastle is a unique, advanced and contemporary allied health program which aims to bring critical thinking and appraisal of evidence in exercise physiology and health practice to the forefront.

What you will study
The multidisciplinary courses embedded in this the degree will allow you to develop advanced knowledge and skills in pathology of disease and an awareness of fundamental principles of pharmacology allowing effective exercise interventions to be created.
You will develop broad and coherent knowledge and be equipped with practical competencies and critical problem-solving skills required for the management and treatment of a broad array of disease conditions in diverse health situations through exercise prescription and delivery.
Your core studies will focus on the following areas:
- Exercise Physiology Practice, Assessment and Intervention
- Exercise and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation
- Exercise in Chronic Diseases (Cardiovascular, Pulmonary and Metabolic Diseases)
- Exercises in Geriatric Populations
- Human Pharmacology
- Motivating Health Behavior Change.
Career opportunities
Exercise physiologists are employed in a wide range of health settings and serve the increasing needs of the ageing Australian population.
Graduates will develop the expertise to work as a self-employed Exercise Physiologist and/or contribute to a range of career options that require skills and knowledge in clinical exercise physiology, including government and private hospitals, aged care organizations, private practice Exercise Physiology clinics, and integrated health care settings.
Additional career opportunities include undertaking further research and/or education to further develop professional and advanced clinical skills.
