在這里學(xué)什么?
Without maths, interpreting the real world would not be possible. Mathematics is the language of science and underpins most technological advances that we rely on every day. Studying a Bachelor of Mathematics will give you essential skills and knowledge in logic, mathematical modelling, experimental design and data analysis.
The Bachelor of Mathematics will provide you with the essential skills and knowledge necessary to be a professional mathematician or statistician ? including the ability to manipulate, analyse and interpret large amounts of data.
What you will study
Mathematical research extends human capabilities by taking our innate skills and intuitions to higher levels. Maths enables modern society to make decisions, to operate more efficiently, to invent new technologies and to understand and modify the world around us.
Current research is inventing new ways of using existing mathematics as well as creating new mathematics for the future. In addition to your major, you will study topics such as:
- statistics
- linear algebra
- differential equations
- numerical methods
- number theory
- topology
- complex analysis
Majors
Focus your studies and choose from one of four majors:
- Pure Mathematics
- Applied Mathematics
- Statistics
- Studies in Mathematics and Statistics
Career opportunities
Mathematics and statistics graduates go everywhere and do everything. They find work in:
- industry
- international finance
- medicine
- merchant banking
- public sector.
Mathematical skills are valuable wherever real world problems must be solved, including the areas of manufacturing and scheduling. The private sector needs statisticians in areas such as:
management and technical roles
- finance
- bioinformatics
- biotechnology
- health research
- marketing
- insurance
- engineering
