Within this combined degree program, students study a combination of Bachelor of Communication and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) courses over a period of five years full-time. On completion of the first three years students will have completed all the courses required for the Bachelor of Communications degree. In the final two years of the combined degree program students complete the requirements of the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and may enrol in these two years on a less than full time basis.
Students completing this combined degree meet the academic requirement to practice law in NSW, and also become specialists in a field of Communication. However, students must also complete postgraduate professional training approved by the Legal Profession Admission Board to practice as a solicitor. Alternatively, students completing this degree may apply for entry to the Bachelor of Laws (Honours)/Diploma of Legal Practice Program - see separate handbook entry - which allows immediate admission to legal practice on graduation.

On successful completion of the program students will have:
Demonstrate the capacity to provide professional advice, based on specialised knowledge of law and its application in diverse contexts, to employers, government and individual clients.

You may be considered for admission on the basis of: a completed NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent – irrespective of age of qualification; completed or partly completed higher education studies; TAFE/VET qualifications, with a minimum of a completed Certificate III (AQF level 3), excluding the Bachelor of Nursing; TAFE/VET qualifications, with a minimum of a completed Certificate II (AQF level 2) in conjunction with meeting additional performance based selection criteria for the Bachelor of Music and associated combined degrees; completion of a recognised enabling program within a 10 year period preceding admission to the University; overseas qualifications equivalent to Australian studies. English language requirement: TOEFL paper-based test score of 500; TOEFL internet based score of 60; IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0; PTE GSE score of 50; Cambridge English: Advanced score of 52.
