COURSE OVERVIEW
Theoretical Physics addresses the meaning of everything.
From quantum information and a grand unified theory, to dark matter and high energy particle physics, this subject can take you anywhere.
Over the course of this four-year degree you will be inspired to ask and answer big questions.
How did the universe begin? Is it possible to recreate in a laboratory the conditions that existed seconds after the big bang? What are space and time made of?
Intended primarily for those aiming to become professional physicists, our MPhys is broadly comparable with other European physics degrees.
You will study from a selection of modules that could include astronomy and cosmology, nuclear physics, the quantum world and climate physics.
We will teach you how fundamental physics is applied across different disciplines and how it connects to new advances in engineering, medicine and mathematics.

On our Physics year in industry programme you will enhance your career-prospects combining classroom based learning with a year long industrial placement of your choice. Utilising your analytical and critical mindset you will focus your third year in an industrial placement, combining all your skills in a working environment. You will graduate with much more than a degree, you will gain real hands on experience and work with real industry professionals in a real working environment.
