COURSE OVERVIEW
Mathematics is one of the most timeless and international disciplines in existence. Both ancient and modern, it is tightly bound with foundations of our financial world today.
Contemporary finance and business are underpinned by mathematics, and our Mathematics for Finance degree reflects a close connection with industry.
This three-year BSc allows you to investigate the number theory studied by Pythagoras and the financial mathematics depended on every day in Wall Street. It covers a range of material including pure mathematics and applied mathematics. You will also concentrate on stochastic processes and stochastic analysis, which are central for applications to finance.

Professional Body Accreditation
Our BSc Mathematics for Finance will meet the educational requirements of the Chartered Mathematician designation, awarded by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, when it is followed by subsequent training and experience in employment to obtain equivalent competences to those specified by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for taught masters degrees.

BSc Mathematics for Finance with a year in industry
As a mathematics student you will already possess multiple skills that employers look for. Combined with your year in industry you will stand out even more in this increasingly popular market. Your placement year will give you the opportunity to enhance your knowledge while gaining valuable industry experience. You will graduate with a highly desirable degree, favoured by Industry professionals, as you move into the mathematics career of your choice.
Although securing a placement is the responsibility of the student, we work with a number of organisations who provide a range of placement opportunities. If you are unable to secure a placement by the end of the second year of your studies you will transfer onto the equivalent degree programme.
