We have a distinguished history of groundbreaking international and interdisciplinary research on gender, sexuality and inequality.
Our research expertise examines gender and sexuality in the context of law, health and medicine, migration, family studies and food.
We continue to reshape the field through empirically robust and theoretically driven research. Our work engages with the sociological imagination in topics that include class, age, ethnicity, embodiment and everyday life practices across a range of international contexts.
The department is also home to the world-renowned Centre for Women's Studies which boasts collaborations with colleagues in China, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Sweden, Finland and South Africa.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) For a postgraduate taught course such as a Masters, you would normally need a Bachelors degree from a recognised institution in a relevant subject. The score you will need depends on which university you attended in China and which subject you are applying to. Typically you would need at least the equivalent to a UK upper second class honours degree, however some courses will accept lower second class honours degrees. Actual requirements will vary by course: A score of 80 to 85 per cent is considered comparable to a UK 2:1; A score of 75 to 80 per cent is considered comparable to a UK 2:2. If you're a non-native English speaking applicant you must provide evidence of your English language ability.
