Integrate architectural and engineering design to develop sustainable solutions to benefit society. Graduate as a creative designer of our built environment.
Our course is for creative engineers who want to lead the design of buildings and structures that work well in every respect. You’ll learn the art and science of the subject while being immersed in the practices of architectural and civil engineering design.
Our course draws on the strengths of a joint Department of Architecture & Civil Engineering, offering you a different experience from most universities. You’ll work with architecture students to embed the professional and interdisciplinary team relationships that will form the basis of your career.
Placement
Going on placement gives you the chance to apply the skills you’ve developed at university to the workplace, and gain complementary skills and knowledge. You’ll gain insight into the construction industry and develop your confidence and standing as an engineer. Having professional experience can benefit the rest of your degree and improve your career prospects. Our students have worked at small and large, internationally known companies including Arup, Atkins, Buro Happold and Laing O’Rourke.
You can decide whether you want to apply for a placement up until the end of your second year. Placement opportunities can’t be guaranteed but you will receive tailored support from our specialist team to help you secure a placement.
Careers
As a Bath civil engineering graduate, you’ll possess a high level of creative ability and excellent communication and people skills. You could go on to work as an engineering designer, a site engineer or a project manager in the construction industry, where your broad outlook, creativity, problem-solving and people skills are highly valued. Some of our graduates continue their studies with us or at other universities, pursuing careers in academia or research.

為來自中國的學生設計 AAA or A*AB in three A levels including A in one of: Biology, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology or Statistics.If you are taking a GCE A level in a science subject, you will need to pass any separate science practical endorsement.Alternate offer: AAB in three A levels including A in one of: Biology, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology or Statistics plus one of:grade A in an EPQ,grade B in the Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Challenge Certificate,grade B in a Core Mathematics qualification,grade B in AS level Mathematics or Statistics.If you receive an offer for this course and are studying one of these qualifications you will be given both the typical and alternative offer.
