Course Overview
This part-time, web-based programme aims to provide flexibility so that you can study alongside your existing work and personal commitments.
We aim to equip teachers with up-to-date knowledge and skills that will enable them to work in a variety of language teaching contexts. English language teachers who have at least two years’ experience in the field would be suitable candidates for this degree programme.
You will be able to choose from a range of module topics ideally relating to your academic interests and benefit your work. We aim to use the latest pedagogical principles in distance education and web-based learning and teaching, you will have the opportunity to access a variety of technological tools to enhance your learning experience.
The programme usually has three main areas of focus:
- To familiarise you with important academic research and theories relating to TESOL;
- To highlight issues of contemporary interest in the field of TESOL, and discuss how attitudes towards these issues are changing and becoming more enlightened;
- To develop your skills in handling applied linguistic research for conducting evidence-based enquiry within the field of TESOL.
This programme usually begins in late September and is administered online via our virtual learning environment. Throughout all of the modules and the dissertation component you will have one-to-one access to our team of teaching staff for individual academic supervision, guidance and feedback, as well as taking part in web-based seminars

IELTS Academic test with an overall score of at least 7.0, with a minimum of 6.0 in each element, TOEFL IBT with an overall score of at least 94, with a minimum of 19 in reading, 19 in listening, 19 in speaking and 22 in writing.
