The Master of Planning/Master of Architecture dual degree connects two of USC’s highly-regarded programs to facilitate cross-disciplinary study in the art and logistics of designing a built environment. In this program, students interested in developing a career in urban design can make more substantial commitments and achieve a more coherent knowledge in the field with a contextual understanding of public policy. Candidates must already possess a degree in architecture. This dual degree program normally requires five semesters in residence.
Requirements
Students must complete 72 units, including 36 units in architecture and 36 units in planning.
Architecture
Elements of the Urban Landscape (ARCH 532) – 2 units
Urban Landscape Case Studies (ARCH 533) – 2 units
Architecture in the Urban Landscape: Projects and Places (ARCH 561) – 2 units
Architecture in the Urban Landscape: Comparative Theories (ARCH 563) – 2 units
Graduate Architecture Design (ARCH 605aL) – 6 units
Graduate Architecture Design (ARCH 605bL) – 6 units
Students select one of the following:
M. Arch. Thesis, Option I (ARCH 693abzL) – 4-8 units
M. Arch, Thesis, Option II (ARCH 695abzL) – 4-8 units
Students must also take a four-unit elective within the School of Architecture.
