The dual degree in Pharmacy and Global Medicine is designed for students who are interested in providing pharmaceutical care to underserved populations around the world. Students enrolled in this dual degree program will benefit from an advanced understanding of the role of, and issues surrounding, modern medicine in developing countries.
This novel dual degree program responds to the worldwide need—and student demand—for training that will enable tomorrow’s pharmacists and global health leaders to serve diverse populations through pharmaceutical interventions. As globalization continues to impact the health care industry, future pharmacists and other health professionals will be tasked with analyzing and understanding the impact and use of pharmaceuticals in developing countries and underserved areas. This program strives to provide these professional with the unique expertise in pharmacotherapy, medication safety, health promotion and disease prevention demanded by a global perspective.
Graduates of the dual degree in Pharmacy and Global Medicine will be able to serve as pharmacists specializing in health care issues in both domestic and global health care settings with special expertise in pharmacotherapy issues. They may also work as researchers at research-based biopharmaceutical companies’ global health programs.
