This MA prepares you for an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funded PhD in applied linguistics. It provides research training into applied linguistics.

It provides research training and interdisciplinary insight into applied linguistics.

What you'll learn

Through the course you will:

achieve a critical conceptual understanding of practice, thought, evidence and theory gain skills, knowledge and understanding to engage with and evaluate research and theory undertake advanced applied research, contributing to the development of new techniques, ideas or approaches make informed judgements on complex issues in specialist fields, often in the absence of complete data communicate your ideas and conclusions to specialist and non-specialist audiences

Your development

You will consolidate your learning through a research project. This might include:

a portfolio of critical literature reviews case reports pilot experiments draft journal articles a dissertation
