The Department of Mathematical Sciences is one of the leading research units in the country, with interests in a wide range of areas in pure mathematics, applied mathematics, mathematical and theoretical physics, as well as statistics and probability. One measure of the vibrancy of our research is the number of postgraduate students we attract. There are about fifty at any given time within the Department.
The course length for an MSc by thesis is normally one year (if full time) although you should perhaps allow some months' extra time for completing the writing up of your thesis. You will undertake a course of study and research under the guidance of your supervisor. When this is complete you will write and submit a thesis (and, possibly, undergo a viva voce examination). The thesis may be entirely expository.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Students should hold a Bachelor degree with scores of at least 80% or above from prestigious university on the International Office's list. Some course requirements may differ. English language requirement: IELTS: 6.5 (no component under 6.0), TOEFL iBT (internet based test) and TOEFL iBT Home Edition: 92 (no component under 23).
