The LLM in Competition Law explores the impact of competition law in areas such as monopolies and mergers and their regulation and control; intellectual property rights and anti-competitive practices; international competition law and international trade. This is an exciting and increasingly important area of law, particularly internationally and across the EU.
- Join the Interdisciplinary Centre for Competition Law and Policy (ICC) at Queen Mary, which conducts research in competition law and policy
- Attend the ICC’s annual event, the Crowell & Moring Conference: Trends and Developments in Global Competition Law
- Participate in the Global Antitrust Review (GAR), an online refereed student journal that aims to encourage and promote scholarship among young competition law scholars
- Your fellow students will come from the UK and more than 80 other countries, each able to draw on prior academic and professional experience from different jurisdictions
- Take part in networking and social events run by the Queen Mary Postgraduate Law Society
For the academic year 2020/21, you can start this LLM programme either in September 2020 or January 2021. An accelerated LLM is also available for January 2021 entry. Part-time is only available for September entry.

Career paths
This programme will enhance your career options by allowing you to specialise in the highly sought after interdisciplinary areas of law, economics and finance. There is a very high rate of employment of our students within six months of graduation. We have dedicated law careers advisers who organise events and internship opportunities with top UK and international law firms.
Graduates of the LLM have gone on to undertake:
- an internship at the Brussels Office of an international law firm
- work for the Colombian Competition Authority.
