About School

The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture (UTSOA) aims to provide the highest quality educational experience by melding principle and practice, drawing interdisciplinary connections, and fostering a supportive culture.

The school has a longstanding legacy of preparing students to be leaders in the design disciplines, and works to build upon this strong foundation while continually refining its approach to teaching, research, and scholarly work.

We believe that architecture and design play a key role in addressing complex local, regional, national, and global issues, and that our work will advance a better quality of life for all people. A diverse learning environment that welcomes a variety of perspectives and backgrounds is crucial to addressing these collective concerns.

The Architecture Programs of The University of Texas at Austin value intellectual ambition and cultural relevance in architectural production. Our teaching and research is founded on a shared interest in ambitious buildings. We uphold an integrated, close-knit design studio model encouraging dialogue, collaboration, risk-taking, and innovation.

Architecture is a situated practice and realizes meaning through its relevance to social, aesthetic, cultural, and technical contexts.

The MAAD is not an NAAB accredited degree. International students interested in pursuing licensure in the United States should apply to the M Arch I degree.
