The joint Master of Social Work (MSW)/Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree program is administered jointly by the School of Social Policy & Practice and the Fels Institute of Government at Penn. The MSW/MPA program prepares students for leadership in government service and private and social service organizations closely associated with the public sector. The MPA internship is often articulated with one of the MSW internships to allow students to explore public service areas of particular interest. Recent internships include positions in offices of U.S. Senators, federal agencies, the executive offices of Pennsylvania cabinet agencies, consulting firms, and the Mayor’s Office of Management and Productivity in Philadelphia. This program is best suited to Advanced Macro Social Work Practice students but is open to Advanced Clinical Social Work Practice students as well. This dual degree program consists of three academic years and one summer.
