The one-year, full-time Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree at the Fels Institute of Government provides the concepts and skills students need to become the public managers and leaders of tomorrow. Driven by our three-pronged approach of context, analysis, and practice, the Fels MPA program admits a small and selective class of students who work closely with Penn faculty and leading policy practitioners to translate their classroom experiences into real-world results.

This efficient and effective program is designed to deliver the specialized knowledge, practical experience, and valuable connections students need to achieve their career goals in just one year. The fall term focuses on the core concepts and analytical tools needed for effective public administration. In the spring term, students learn the skills they need to translate knowledge into practical solutions. In the summer, students solve a real-world challenge through their capstone project and work with a career services advisor to identify a summer internship that provides them with additional skills and networking opportunities.
