Programme overview
This programme is designed to develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of company law and corporate governance. You will research and analyse various aspects of law and regulation of both corporate activities and the relationships between business actors and their shareholders and stakeholders.
You will examine a wide range of issues that focus on the legal, regulatory, policy and practice responses to corporations' actions. Core theoretical debates will be explored alongside relevant international and national laws and the contexts in which they operate.
The programme consists of two parts. In the first part, you will select four units from a wide range of specialist options of relevance to corporations. These may include: Global Perspectives on Corporate Governance and Corporate Governance in the UK and the US. Alternatively, you may find other options of interest, such as human rights law, labour law or international law.
In the second part of the programme you will write a dissertation of 12,000 words on a subject of your choice under the supervision of our staff. This means that you will have assistance in crafting your research and writing by a company lawyer who is actively researching in the fields of company law or corporate governance.
Careers
A specialist qualification in company law and corporate governance can offer opportunities to work with the best solicitors’ firms in the country to practise as a barrister in leading commercial law chambers. It can also lead to careers in finance, management, the civil service and NGOs, campaigning on matters such as business, human rights, and even to international and European organisations.
Several of our LLM students have gone on to pursue research degrees and are now themselves prominent legal academics. We are happy to support you in pursuing a wide variety of careers.

為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) To be considered for admission to a master's degree programme at the University of Bristol, the minimum requirement for entry is an undergraduate (bachelor’s) degree that is equivalent to a UK upper second-class degree (also known as a 2:1). Applicants who hold a four-year bachelor's (honours) degree from a prestigious university with a minimum of 78% will be considered for admission to a master's degree. Students need to have IELTS 6.0 overall with either listening or speaking at 6.5, with no skill below 6.0.
