The Master of Veterinary Science (MVSc) is a graduate research degree that can be undertaken in any of the Faculty’s veterinary science research areas.
SPECIALISE THROUGH RESEARCH
It is designed to help you develop advanced skills in carrying out independent and sustained research. Your thesis will demonstrate a critical application of specialist knowledge and make an independent contribution to existing scholarship in the area of research. You will write a thesis of 30,000-40,000 words to complete your degree.
While acquiring skills in the searching and manipulation of scientific literature, you'll gain specialist knowledge in your area of research.
SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE THROUGH RESEARCH
Gain a breadth and depth of knowledge in a particular field or set of related fields in veterinary science. Learn how to apply scientific methods to the definition and solution of problems by research. And learn to approach research in a critical, perceptive and constructive way.
CAREERS
With the specialist knowledge gained, you can choose a career across a number of industries. A career could include: veterinary and agricultural research, veterinary diagnostic laboratories, biosecurity, biomedical research (both internationally and within Australia), policy and government, international aid, or industry - such as animal health and production.

English language requirements for Coursework degree: IELTS (academic English Only) - 6.5 overall, with written 6.5 and no band less than 6.0; TOEFL (paper-based test) - 577 + TWE 4.5; TOEFL (internet-based test) - 79 + (Writing 21; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13); Pearson Test of English (Academic) - 58 + no other communicative skill below 50; Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) - 176 + no less than 185 in Writing and 169 in each other skill. English language requirements for Master of Philosophy: IELTS (academic English Only) - 7.0 overall, with written 7 and no band less than 6.0; TOEFL (paper-based test) - 600 + TWE 5.0; TOEFL (internet-based test) - 94 + (Writing 27; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13); Pearson Test of English (Academic) - 65 + written communicative skill of 65 and no other communicative skill below 50; Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) - 185 + no less than 185 in Writing and 169 in each other skill.
