The Master of Finance is a specialist finance degree that provides you with comprehensive training and knowledge that goes beyond a finance major in an undergraduate degree.
Melbourne Business School also offers a 2-year Master of Finance (Enhanced) if you’re interested in taking advantage of our many elective and exchange options as part of your degree.
If you have not previously studied finance, you could consider our Master of Management (Finance).
The new Master of Finance degree aims to provide graduates with:
- A practical career-oriented program
- Detailed knowledge of the operations and activities of financial markets
- An understanding of financial management principles and their application to financial policy
- A comprehensive understanding of Australian and international financial markets
- A comprehensive knowledge of various asset classes and the operation of the markets in these asset classes
- An applied knowledge of specialised aspects of the finance industry
Graduates of the new Master of Finance (Enhanced) will forge international careers in the finance industry applying their technical skills to the areas of:
- Investments
- Banking
- Corporate advisory
- Financial analysis

English language requirements for Coursework degree: IELTS (academic English Only) - 6.5 overall, with written 6.5 and no band less than 6.0; TOEFL (paper-based test) - 577 + TWE 4.5; TOEFL (internet-based test) - 79 + (Writing 21; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13); Pearson Test of English (Academic) - 58 + no other communicative skill below 50; Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) - 176 + no less than 185 in Writing and 169 in each other skill. English language requirements for Master of Philosophy: IELTS (academic English Only) - 7.0 overall, with written 7 and no band less than 6.0; TOEFL (paper-based test) - 600 + TWE 5.0; TOEFL (internet-based test) - 94 + (Writing 27; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13); Pearson Test of English (Academic) - 65 + written communicative skill of 65 and no other communicative skill below 50; Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) - 185 + no less than 185 in Writing and 169 in each other skill.
