Learn from world leading experts

Develop advanced mechanical engineering skills, guided by experts in fluid mechanics, turbulence and biomechanics. You’ll be learning from researchers who have developed robots with a human touch, low-cost prostheses, 3D printing to create jaws and save hearts and working to improve the efficiency of aircraft.

The Master of Engineering (Mechanical with Business) is a 2–3 year degree (full-time) depending on your prior study.

Course structure

FIRST YEAR

In your first year (or equivalent) you’ll complete foundation engineering subjects – tailored to students from a non-engineering background. If you’ve completed the Mechanical Systems major in your bachelor’s degree, plus the required maths and science subjects, you’ll receive credit for these foundation engineering subjects and start in second year.

SECOND AND THIRD YEAR

In the second and third year of the program (or equivalent), you’ll focus on your chosen engineering discipline. As a mechanical engineering student, your focus will be on turning energy into power and motion and designing and constructing operating devices and systems. You will focus on fluid mechanics, turbulence and biomechanics.

Careers

As a mechanical engineer, you could work in a range of fields such as infrastructure and construction, aerostructures, biotechnology, manufacturing, or mining and resources.

English language requirements for Master of Philosophy: IELTS (academic English Only) - 7.0 overall, with written 7 and no band less than 6.0; TOEFL (paper-based test) - 600 + TWE 5.0; TOEFL (internet-based test) - 94 + (Writing 27; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13); Pearson Test of English (Academic) - 65 + written communicative skill of 65 and no other communicative skill below 50; Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) - 185 + no less than 185 in Writing and 169 in each other skill.
