專業(yè)概況

在這里學(xué)什么？

The Master of Educational Psychology/Doctor of Philosophy will enable students to become practitioners while developing advanced research skills and experience to enhance their capacity to work in professionally related tertiary programs. The course provides a grounding in the theoretical, conceptual and empirical foundations of professional practice in educational psychology, and the opportunity for students to develop skills relevant to professional practice through supervised professional experience. The course provides the opportunity for students to undertake a substantial piece of original research within the field of practice of educational psychology and related practice.

This is a four year course. The first year is comprised of coursework, the PhD component is completed over the final three years.

PhD Thesis

The normal length of a PhD thesis is 80,000 words, exclusive of words in tables, maps, bibliographies and appendices. Footnotes are included as part of the word limit.

Course structure

• Up to 4 years full-time or 8 years part-time
• Coursework and research, comprising:
• 100 points of coursework in the first year (or equivalent for part time students)
• 150 points of further coursework throughout the final three years
• 1000 hours of supervised fieldwork
• 80,000 word PhD thesis.

Become qualified to work as an educational psychologist with expert skills in counseling, psychological assessment, research methods, intervention, group work, consultation and multidisciplinary team work. In addition, through your major research project, you will gain advanced research skills.

English language requirements for Master of Philosophy: IELTS (academic English Only) - 7.0 overall, with written 7 and no band less than 6.0; TOEFL (paper-based test) - 600 + TWE 5.0; TOEFL (internet-based test) - 94 + (Writing 27; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13); Pearson Test of English (Academic) - 65 + written communicative skill of 65 and no other communicative skill below 50; Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) - 185 + no less than 185 in Writing and 169 in each other skill.
